Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Tom will be playing the role of Ricki Tarr in the remake of John Le Carré's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, alongside Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch (squee!).

Here's an article with the first pic of Gary Oldman as the lead:

I just finished watching the almost 6-hour miniseries last night. Um, I have no problem with them trimming it down to 2. And I think the casting is superb. I just kinda wish they had modernized it. Cold War intrigues just aren't as intriguing anymore.

They are very intriguing for those of us who lived during the Cold War :whistling:
And I loved the book.

I'm sure they are. And some stories definitely can't be taken out of that context. This one, however, doesn't depend so much on USSR vs. Britain, but the office politics of the secret service itself. The treason isn't even so much of a priority, it seemed to me.

That's cool that the director from Let The Right One In is taking this on. I'll have to check out the book.
